IIT UNDERGRADUATE SLAMS “NAYI SOCH AWARD” IN MASTERCHEF SEASON 4
Guwahati: Junior Undergraduate student of IIT Guwahati, Ram Lal bagged the ‘Nayi Soch Award’ in the latest edition of Master Chef Season 4 to put the entire country into a state of amazement last Saturday. Ram Lal, who seemed emotionally touched, credits his success to his 2-months long Summer Internship at South Korea.
“It was always a life of chef – codechef in the lab and dreams of masterchef back in the dorm”, he said. The food connoisseurs declared him to be a pioneer in making ‘khichdi’ and could not stop appreciating his culinary skills and his deep interest in Indian cuisine. One of them proclaimed “Given any recipe, and any material, he makes a ‘khichdi’ out of it.” It was StarPlus which decided later to bestow him with the ’Nayi Soch Award’ trophy left out in the IPL stock.
IITians who were expected to be globetrotter of technology have proved once again to be versatile in yet another sphere of life - cooking.
This is all what Ram Lal has to say about his agonizing journey and his ultimate triumph:
“I remember it very well that for the first week, it was only 6 biscuits and 250 ml Pepsi daily. I realized I would vanish soon and the very thought was traumatizing” he continued speaking with teary eyes.
“I gathered courage and started cooking. I saw videos on YouTube, and began following recipes. It was only a few days later that I realized I make the same stuff out of almost anything and everything. The colour, the odour and the taste were found constant. In fact, the experimental results in my lab project varied more. Today, I feel glad to be honored with this award. You never know, Life keeps surprising.”
